By Damien Tran
Building a Lake, Making Pebbles Disappear, Wearing a Hat tells the story of a group of humans living in the forest. Some thirty chapters describe different aspects of their lives: their diet, their games, their funeral rites, their celebrations, their customs... They spend a lot of time building magnificent rafts that sink as soon as they're launched. They dig a very large lake simply for the pleasure of attracting waterfowl. Their ambitious projects often end in failure, but it seems nothing matters.
Damien Tran is a self-taught artist. His work revolves around drawing, printmaking techniques, painting, and animation.
In 2012, he and Marion Jdanoff founded the duo Palefroi: a screen printing workshop, publishing house, and collaborative art project based in Berlin until 2019.
Together, they published dozens of books, zines, posters, and screen-printed art prints.
Damien currently lives in a forest in the Aveyron region of France.
His solo and collaborative work has been featured in numerous exhibitions and specialised festivals in Europe, the United States, and Asia.
