Cross the desert on a dog's back, search for lost treasures in the depths of the oceans, fly over the city like Superman in his blue and red costume… Through his photographs, Jan von Holleben brings children's dreams to life. It was in 2002 that Jan, accompanied by his neighbours' children, began this photographic project, which would become the series Dreams of Flying (In the Air). Inspired as much by the classics of children's literature as by superheroes, the children tell him wild stories that Jan hastens to stage and photograph using a small Nikon camera. He then developed his famous flat perspective, photographing from the top of a ladder his models lying on the ground, which allows him to create playful and dreamlike images, without constraints and without limits—or almost.
